Observational Realism

About
I create paintings based on photographs I edit and compose digitally before beginning to paint. This process allows me to control color, composition, and spatial relationships, ensuring the final image reflects my visual intent rather than a literal snapshot. My focus is on achieving precise color relationships that define form, light, and temperature, striving to match the reference colors accurately. I approach realism as a practice of close observation and deliberate decision-making rather than a fixed style, allowing brushwork to describe surfaces without unnecessary polish or embellishment.Across different subjects—whether glass, animals, or landscape—I maintain the same commitment: to observe thoughtfully, make intentional choices, and stop when the painting resolves visually. The goal is clarity and fidelity to the image as I’ve shaped it, not theatrical effect.
